Support at Birth

To support a woman throughout labour is to establish a commitment to a sacred dimension and to the mysteries of life, as well as to acknowledge the woman’s innate ability, her physiological heritage to give birth. As a service, the presence of the doula promotes the co-creation of a sense of protection, harmony and trust, safeguarding and respecting the whole intimate, unique and individual journey of each mother/couple.

The doula provides emotional support, ensures physical comfort (by means of comfort-related measures such as shower or bath, comforting / relaxing touch or conscious breathing, suggestion of different positions...) and, as required, facilitates communication with the medical team to ensure that “her mother” has all the information she needs to make informed decisions.
